A written word is the choicest of relics. It is something at once more intimate with us and more universal than any other work of art. It is the work of art nearest to life itself. — Henry David Thoreau

First of all, congratulations on writing your book!

Whether this is your first or fifteenth draft, I would love to help you bring forth the strongest edition of your manuscript. As a fellow author, I know how challenging it is to edit your own writing, let alone take an objective position on resolving big-picture issues. While writing is often a solo endeavor, I believe editing should be collaborative.

Let’s team up!

As a former high school creative writing teacher, a developmental and copy editor with ten years of experience, and a published author, my life revolves around the written word—in fact, it is my most natural mode of communication. We all have stories to tell, ideas to express, and wisdom to share, and writing a book is one of the most commendable accomplishments, in my humble opinion. However, for our written words to reach the world, several steps must first be taken.

You’ve already completed the first step, and it’s a huge one: write the first draft.

To prepare for publication, whether you are self-publishing or taking the hybrid or traditional route, the next step(s) is editing. That’s where I come in. I offer four types of editing services:

  • Editorial assessment

  • Developmental/substantive line edits

  • Copy edits

  • Final proofing

To see if we are a good match for each other, please reach out via email (crjennparker@gmail.com) to schedule a complimentary consultation. Once I learn more about you and your book project, I can create a customized editing package tailored to your goals and budget.
